After years of shiver in the river, the California Area School District Foundation announces that their premiere fundraiser, the Frosty Frolic, will be a virtual event. Rather than the usual Winter River Romp, where participants jump on the Monongahela River, participants are asked to post a video of themselves “freezin’ for a reason” to the Frosty Frolic Facebook page. Prizes will be awarded for the number of views, likes, and shares. Classmates are asked to post their grade or room for further competition.
There will also be prizes awarded to the video that receives the most online donations through the Facebook page donate button or through the Foundation website: www.calsdfoundation.org.
This change not only protects people during the COVID pandemic, it also allows for broader participation from those not quite ready to jump in the river in February. The kids using TikTok should love this.
Freezin’ for a reason is now a full season with the month of February as the time frame for submission of the videos and voting.
The usual t-shirts will be provided to those who donate over $20 or who raise more than $20 and will be distributed after the event. T-shirts can be ordered online. The Mon Valley Hospital is also providing gaiters for participants.
Sponsors will be noted throughout the event on the event page as well as the Foundation’s Facebook page and website.
This event supports student scholarships and school grant projects.
Let’s see those videos! Please submit videos and sponsorships through February 27, 2021.
